Gaddafi Forces on the Offensive, UN Mulls Sanctions Forces supportive of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi regained control of eastern oil city of Brega and are pressing on to Ajdabiya.
According to witness reports, Ajdabiya is being bombed from the skies and hundreds of residents are fleeing to Benghazi.
Gaddafi-supportive forces have also taken Zuara - the rebels' last stronghold west of capital Tripoli.
Things are however calm around Misurata, after last week's unsuccessful effort on the part of government forces to retake it.
In the meanwhile senior diplomatic sources have informed that the UN is expected to vote on new sanctions against Libya.
On February 26 the assets of Gaddafi and his family were frozen and an weapons embargo was imposed on the country.
